House Tours, June through August
Fridays, through Sundays, 12 pm to 4 pm

The Smith-Harris House is open for visitors for the summer season! Tours are every hour on the half-hour, starting at 12:30 pm; last tour at 3:30 pm. A 45-minute guided tour of the Greek-Revival farmhouse demonstrates the family and agricultrual lives of the Avery, Smith, and Harris families through the 1840s and into the mid-20th century! CT Open-House Museum Day

Enjoy historic games on the lawn, tours of the House, and historic recipe-inspired refreshments. Also, meet and chat with Mrs. Elizabeth Avery Henderson, a setagenarian who lived with her brother, Thomas Avery, during the 1860s, portrayed by East Lyme's own Maggi Prokop. Looking for something fun to do on Columbus Day? Join the Smith-Harris House as we host family-friendly activities that explore history! Try your hand at painting a “mural,” make a history-inspired craft, and test your skill at “squash bowling,” “graces,” “hoop roll,” and other historic games played by children two centuries ago!
